Autumn Update
I’m sure many of you have been waiting for an update and photos. I mean it’s been over a month! Sorry guys!
There are so many changes and so many firsts. Nick and I can’t believe how much he’s grown. From our little 2.4 pound baby to over 13 pounds! He is now 7 months old (5 months adjusted) and is eating solids! His favorite is squash and sweet potatoes – I’m afraid he might turn orange soon! He’s also had bananas, avocado, pear, green beans, apples and peas. Oh and tofu! I know weird huh? Tofu?? He was able to try some roasted pear with tofu at Bean Sprouts – a little cafe at the Seattle Center where they make baby and toddler food.
He coos and giggles. He’s very ticklish like his mama.
He can also sit on his own but still using his arms for support.
Desmond has also started therapy for his left hand and leg. (I guess I haven’t told you guys that huh?) The good news is that, the therapists don’t even think they need to come once a week. Maybe every other week or once a month. As long as we do therapy with him he’ll be ok. What’s the therapy for? Well, we noticed that he likes to use his right hand more when it comes to grabbing stuff and also he points his left toes a little bit. It’s not too obvious, only when you’re really looking at Des. But if you didn’t know about it, you won’t even see it. So thank God it is not major. And we believe that Des will overcome this!
We are also praising Jesus because cognitively, Des is doing GREAT! When we went to UW for his high risk assessment (every preemie needs to get the assessment), the therapist said that Desmond is a VERY attentive boy. He is very aware and alert. Maybe he will be like me. My mama said that when I was young, I liked to observe what everyone was doing. She said that the look on my face seemed like I knew something other people didn’t. Des has that same look on his face. Which I find very interesting and very amazing! He knows something we don’t. Like when he poops and we’ll only find out later. Haha!
Des and I have been very busy these past few weeks. We go to the library for baby story time, we go to Kinder Musik (Music Play Class for babies) once a week, we go to MOPS (best thing for momma’s to go to EVER!) and we hang out with mama’s friends and Desmond’s friends. I will say it, I love being a mama to Des. It is definitely hard work, but those giggles.. oh those giggles make it all worth it. Not to mention the snuggles, cuddles and smiles in the morning. *sigh*
I still can’t believe how much he’s grown in just a month. The following photos I’m going to share you will see what I’m talking about. Nick and I keep telling each other, “He doesn’t look like a baby, he looks like a little boy!”

I hope everyone is well and excited for Thanksgiving! I will upload more photos and videos. We are also very excited for Christmas! For new mama’s and papa’s out there, are there any new traditions you’re establishing with your family for the holidays? Sticking with the traditions you grew up with? Mixing it up? I’m curious to know since Nick and I are still talking about what we want our family to be doing during Christmas. Would love to hear about your ideas and plans in the comments section.
Hi Tanya and Nick! Praise the Lord! It’s so wonderful to hear great news about Des and to see how much he has grown! What a blessing! In His time we may be able to see all of you again!
Yes indeed Tita Carla! Amen. We would love to be able to come see everyone again sometime soon. In His time for sure.
